Kyogo Furuhashi has spoken for the first time about his three month injury absence.Â
The striker made an incredible impact at Celtic following his July move from Vissel Kobe, sign-posted by a hat-trick against Dundee on his Celtic Park debut.Â
Supporters and team-mates instantly struck up a rapport with the brave striker that played and trained with a smile on his face, scoring the goals that Ange Postecoglou’s side badly needed following the sale of Odsonne Edouard.Â
It looked like disaster had struck in December when he suffered a hamstring injury after coming on as a substitute against Real Betis.Â
Incredibly he was back in 10 days time to score the goals that won the League Cup but a week later at St Johnstone he went off injured after 15 minutes and hasn’t been seen since.Â
A comeback is being speculated in terms of games now rather than weeks or months, speaking to Japanese website Mainichi, Furuhashi said:Â
I have been absent since I was injured in December last year, but now I am in very good condition and I feel that I will be back soon. I felt that I really like soccer and it’s fun, and I’m glad to hear a lot of messages from the supporters. I am spending my time hoping to get back to the pitch as soon as possible, whether it’s a day or a match.Â
Kyogo has been left out of the Japan squad for World Cup qualifiers against Australia and Vietnam but it is the Glasgow derby on April 3 that Celtic fans have pinned their hopes of for a return to action.Â
