The Celtic board were given some very direct feedback from fans about their plans for the Sydney Super Cup.

On Tuesday lunchtime the club was banging the drum for ‘Ange’s Homecoming’ with the club taking part in a four team competition in Sydney in November. Detail was light.

Throughout Wednesday more information emerged with a Glasgow derby the centrepiece of the new look competition- a development that very few Celtic fans welcomed.

There has been no further comment from Celtic about their exciting venture to Australia, after a 2-0 win over St Mirren tonight the club will be hoping that the focus remains on events on the pitch.

Goals from Cameron Carter-Vickers and Callum McGregor secured Celtic’s first win in three matches, maintaining their three point lead at the top of the SPFL Premiership table.

On Sunday around 7,000 Celtic fans will be at the live televised match away to Livingston, it is unlikely that the opportunity to oppose the Sydney Super Cup will be passed up.

Tough one for me. Australia has large Celtic and Rangers supporter clubs across the country. This would be great for those who pay a TV subscription to watch one game a week on the other side of the world.
Celtic v Rangers in oz would be great and would boost the profiles of both teams in Asia. That is what both clubs need to do to have a chance of revenue to off set the greedy champions league restructuring.
There would be no friendly as Celtic and seveco fans despise each other in Australia too and I am sure there will be a trophy and winners purse involved.

Editor: It isn’t tough at all. Any connection with the poison across the city has to be killed off as early as possible. No issue with Celtic going anywhere is the world to play, lots of issues with the choice of opponents and promoting a lie- 134 year old rivalry.

Hopefully this decision hits Celtic in the pocket domestically and speeds up the exit of the middle-aged, middle class grey people in suits with no interest in anything other than a flat balance sheet and supporting their mate Douglas Park in every way possible.

I hope this backfires massively on Bankier and Nicholson.
