He wasn’t born in Wishaw or come through the club Academy but Kyogo Furuhashi seems to have formed a Kieran Tierney-style bond with the Celtic support.

Four months on from his dramatic double at Hampden to win the League Cup the Japanese striker was back on the scoresheet yesterday in Dingwall.

The long, slow recovery from a hamstring problem was forgotten in the 12th minute when Kyogo rose to meet a cross from Jota and head the visitors into the lead.

That goal gave Celtic an early cushion but it was 75 minutes later before the points were put behind Ross County when Jota added the second goal.

That mixture of joy and relief was felt in the dug-out as well as in the stands where the travelling support had been willing in that second goal.

After the final whistle the bond between the players and supporters was obvious as the Celtic squad headed to their dressing room with the blonde headed striker from Japan lapping up every moment.
