Mohanad Jeahze has reacted to Monday’s story that Celtic are interested in signing the Hammarby defender.

Left-back seems to be one position that Ange Postecoglou is short in with Greg Taylor the established first choice with Liam Scales, Adam Montgomery and Boli Bolingoli falling by the wayside.

In the other full-back position there is a reasonable debate over whether Josip Juranovic or Tony Ralston is first choice.

At the age of 25 Jeahze seems to fit the profile of an Ange Postecoglou signing, importantly Celtic would appear to be a logical step up in Jeahze’s career, much like Juranovic’s move last summer from Legia Warsaw.

Covering the defender’s reaction to being linked with Celtic, The Sun reports:

On the subject of Celtic’s interest, he said: “I can’t say much about that. I’ve always been very clear. If I am going to leave Hammarby it will be for something better than Hammarby. I love it here in Hammarby.”

When asked about Celts’ strip being the same colours as Hammarby, the 25-year-old laughed: “Yes, it’s green and white!”

Jeahze has spent all of his life in Sweden but has picked up four international caps for Iraq over the last year.

Celtic’s transfer activity this summer is likely to be much less frantic than in 2021 with a notable shift in emphasis away from project signings to tried and tested players ready to go straight into first team football.
