The kid from Catholic United came up with the goods at Ibrox as Celtic celebrated what could be the pivotal result of the SPFL season.

A decade ago Cameron Carter-Vickers was scrapping away with the Southend club and dreaming of a career in the big time.

Yesterday, more than 400 miles north he found himself in the heat of one of the biggest games in the British Isles and came up trumps.

At one end he was forming a strong barrier with Carl Starfelt in front of Joe Hart, at the other he got half a chance at goal and smashed the winning shot past Allan McGregor.

There was still 45 minutes of solid concentration required to deliver the victory but at the final whistle his old club and a legendary snooker player were quick to send their appreciation.

In two weeks time Carter-Vickers faces the same opponents as Celtic briefly turm their attention to the Scottish Cup.
