SFA turn again to Bobby Madden for Hampden Glasgow derby

Bobby Madden will referee his second Glasgow derby of the year when he takes charge of the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden on February 2.

The Lanarkshire based official was the man in the middle when Celtic scored a dramatic 3-0 win on February 2- a result that took the hoops into top spot in the SPFL with that one point gap now stretched to six.

Madden hasn’t refereed Celtic since that match but did take charge of six of their first 24 SPFL matches. Since that fixture Madden has refereed the visits of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side to Dundee United and Dundee in the SPFL.

Nick Walsh and John Beaton refereed Glasgow derbies last season but have yet to be handed the fixture this season although there is still one SPFL clash between the two clubs.

Steven McLean will be the fourth official at Hampden with Beaton in charge of the Hearts v Hibs semi-final the previous day.

We’ll be watching you Salmon Leap Madden.

  • Jim says:

Surely that has to be good news. 3-0 comfortable victory in the last game he refereed. No dramas as far as I can see.

  • Sean says:

That’s not a problem, he refereed last game, we won 3-0, so no hassle there from me. Colum also had a good game at wkend there. Not an issue at all, these guys were the refs during our quadruple trebles Joe, so no issues whatsoever. I’ll tell you again Joe, if we play to our best, we will win the match, just like the 3-0, just like the 2-1, just like the quadruple trebles. This is getting tiresome this now pal. It dosnt matter if kris Boyd is refereeing the match, if we play our best, we win. It’s as simple as that.

Editor: I will tell you again- why did Madden not issue any card to his podcast buddy Halliday for assault on Callum McGreor in first SPFL match? How can he justify 27 fouls against Celtic at Aberdeen with 62% possession. How can he justify no penalty when Clint Hill chopped Leigh Griffiths in March 2017?

Can you justify John Beaton’s performance at Ibrox in December 2018?

If you want to praise the SFA and their officials stick to CQN, this site speaks out against the multiple issues on Scotland, can you explain why three days after a Celtic physio has his head smashed by a glass bottle at Ibrox there has been ZERO action by SFA and SPFL? Or should we just accept that as well?

  • Sean says:

Joe are you trying to tell me that we have not had any decisions going our way, try being a non glasgow club supporter. Like a said, it dosnt matter who referees the match, the best team will win. With regards to your issues, that’s why VAR, is available, and hopefully soon will be in Scotland. I’m sure our rivals will say the same about decisions that’s not weren’t there way. Madden was in charge of last game, the hoops won 3-0, end of.

Editor: End of. From midnight your support for the SFA won’t be appearing on this site. Have fun with the cheerleaders over at CQN. Noted that you never answered any of the points I raised. You’ll be pleased to see Andrew Dallas no doubt on Saturday, comes from a lovely family.

  • Sean says:

That is pretty pathetic Joe, and pretty childish. I did answer your questions VAR, there’s your answer. Cheerleaders at sfa lol, get a grip. I said it dosn’t matter who referees the match, the best team will win. We beat rangers 3-0 with madden in charge, won a quadruple treble with the same referees. I’ll be pleased to see Andrew Dallas lol, oh aye I’m not going to be able to sleep with excitement. Honestly pal nauseating, with a capital N. Don’t have a blog, if you can’t have engaging conversations.

Editor: Share your views with the CQN cheerleaders, with your Old Firm scarf- half Bobby Madden half Brother Beaton. I don’t engage with lovers of the SFA and the friends of Lawwell/Bankier/Nicolson #firmoldfriends

    • Jim says:

What a shite state of affairs Editor. Sean has his opinion and is entitled to it. You write some nonsence as people see. You going to ban yourself.

Editor: Anyone that thinks that Bobby Madden, John Beaton, Nick Walsh and the rest deliver the Laws of the Game fairly to both teams has some serious issues.
Next someone will be justifying the complete dominance of referees from Lanarkshire and Glasgow on the FIFA list giving them all of the top domestic matches. Sean can share his views elsewhere. If you don’t like my nonsense you can always read CQN, BBC and the rest.

  • Scud Missile says:

Lol the same people on here tonight not complaining or calling out the refs because we sit pretty at the top of the league, how easy they change their minds,I would call gullible.
The Midden is in charge of the semi-final for us watch as the same people on here tonight saying the refs don’t bother them, will be the first lot on here should we lose that semi-final because of The Midden.

  • Scud Missile says:

I think Sean is a closet hun as he seems to be right on the defensive here.
Don’t shoot the messenger as it’s only my opinion, which is like ARSEHOLES everybody has one.
