Two Daily Record reporters tip van Bronckhorst to delay Celtic’s title party

David McCarthy and Michael Gannon are tipping Giovanni van Bronckhorst to delay Celtic’s title party.

Sunday’s 2-0 win away to Ross County restored Celtic’s six point lead at the top of the SPF with just four matches to be played.

It is a big if but if Celtic win Sunday’s Glasgow derby they will go nine points ahead of their city rivals with a goal difference advantage of at least 21. Not enough to get Neil Doncaster jumping out of a cinch helicopter at 2pm on Sunday but as good as sealing the title race.

On Thursday night van Bronckhorst takes his side to face RB Leipzig in the Europa League, there won’t be much time to get refreshed before they turn up at Celtic Park for a noon kick-off.

Looking forward a week the Daily Record reports:

Sunday’s win in Dingwall means Celtic will go nine points clear with three games to play if they beat Rangers next Sunday. Is it going to happen?

KEITH JACKSON: Rangers will be desperate not to hand over their title at Celtic’s big party. But Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his players might be running on fumes by the time they make it across the city. A Celtic win seems the most likely outcome.

DAVID MCCARTHY: It may depend on how Rangers get on in Germany. They’ve hit a good spell of form and were the better team in the last Old Firm clash, so Celtic may have to wait for the title party, but they’ll still be having one at some point this season.

MICHAEL GANNON: It’s not done and dusted yet. This will be a last stand from Rangers and they’ll throw everything at it. Celtic will be happy with a point though and they should get it to all but seal the deal.

SCOTT BURNS: Celtic will be fired up to do it in front of their own fans. Rangers will be keen to keep the race going but Celtic could just edge it.

Celtic appeared to get out of Dingwall without any fresh injury problems meaning that Josip Juranovic is the only top team player ruled out of Sunday’s match.

Van Bronckhorst will be without Alfredo Morelos, Filip Helander and Ianis Hagi for the remainder of the season with Leon Balogun, Kemar Roofe and the suspended Leon Balogun ruled out of Sunday’s Derby match.
