Giovanni van Bronckhorst wants the SPFL to reschedule his side’s fixtures to assist their Europa League ambitions.

The Ibrox side are away to RB Leipzig on Thursday April 28 then host the German’s in the return leg on Thursday May 5.

Between those matches they face Celtic on Sunday May 1 with a noon kick-off which seems to be the match he is discussing, speaking at a media conference this morning the Ibrox boss said:

The SPFL would need to have a specific request for the Celtic match to decide on.

Shifting the kick-off time later on Sunday isn’t likely to be popular with Police Scotland while thousands of Celtic fans have made travel arrangements based on a noon kick-off on the Sunday.

Throughout this season both Glasgow clubs have regularly played Thursday/Sunday then Wednesday or Thursday. In 2003 Celtic played Boavista on Thursday April 24 then went to Ibrox for a lunchtime kick-off three days later.

The post-split fixtures were only announced last Monday, the prospect of Europa League semi-finals would have been factored in with the Ibrox executives part of the process that decided on the fixtures.
