Celtic are reported to have made contact with the agents of Joseph Okuma of KAA Gent.

As a Kenya internationalist playing in Belgium there will be obvious parallels with Victor Wanyama who made a similar move in 2011.

While agents like to drum up interest in their clients naming interested clubs in the media suggests that interest may not be as strong as the agents would like.

Turning 25 today Okuma plays in central defence where Celtic are in talks with Spurs over the permanent transfer of Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The Kenyan moved to Gent last summer from Elfsborg in a £2.5m transfer, with a contract running until May 2025 the Belgian side will be in the driving seat in any transfer negotiations.

One of the Okuma’s agents told People Sport of Kenya:

We have had informal interests from English side Arsenal and Scottish giants Celtic, but German side Borussia Dortmund is the first side to make an official inquiry about the central defender who is open to a move if a proper agreement is reached.

Ange Postecoglou is looking to complete most transfer business before Celtic head to a pre-season training camp in Austria as he looks to get his squad in shape before the first competitive match on July 30.

Last season the hoops boss was heavily involved in transfer business while the season was up and running with Jota, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Carter-Vickers signed up on the final day of the transfer window.
