Nir Bitton has set off speculation over his future with an Instagram post following Celtic’s 4-1 win over Hearts.

The Israeli international was an unused substitute as Celtic closed in on the SPFL title and is well used to the ways of social media.

‘It’s been a hell of a journey’ could be applied in various circumstances at the end of the season but posing with his kids on the pitch suggests that Bitton’s Celtic journey could be drawing to a close.

Signed by Neil Lennon in 2013 the former FC Ashdod man has had periods when he threatened to become a regular under various Celtic managers without quite nailing down his claim.

Bitton has been a trusted back-up for Ange Postecoglou this season but as the new boss steps up his overhaul of the squad Yosuke Ideguchi looks more likely to get opportunities next season.

With a year left on his contract the offer of a two or three year deal elsewhere might appeal to the 30-year-old after just short of a decade of life in Glasgow.
