Jota will finally become a permanent Celtic player on Thursday, according to Portuguese publisher A Bola.

Almost since the moment that he lifted the SPFL Premiership trophy and celebrated with the Celtic fans there has been an assumption that the winger would be signing a permanent deal.

Seven weeks later and with Ange Postecoglou’s non-internationalists back in pre-season training there has been no sign of Jota other than a holiday tour that has covered Ibiza, New York and Cancun.

A number of contractual issues end on June 30 with A Bola reporting:

According to data gathered by A BOLA, Jota Filipe will even say goodbye to the Luz club and should be made official this Thursday by Celtic. The Scottish club will pay Benfica €7.5m for 70 percent of Jota’s pass, an amount included in the purchase option clause that was defined when the player was loaned to Celtic last season.

Benfica, Jota’s club since childhood play at the Stadio de Luz.

On June 10 Celtic completed a permanent deal for Cameron Carter-Vickers but for some reason the Jota deal has taken longer, both players moved on loan at the end of August.

The full Celtic squad fly to Austria on Monday to step up training and play two matches, it looks likely that Alexandro Bernabei and Jota could be onboard as Postecoglou’s squad starts to take shape for the new season.

It was always just going to be a matter of time never no fear, to much negative talk about him signing or not.
