Argentinian journalist delivers Alexandro Bernabei update

Celtic’s move to sign Alexandro Bernabei appears to have taken a step closer with his medical completed. 

The defender was spotted at Glasgow Airport on Friday morning but little has been heard about his move since then. 

With a two match suspension hanging over him due to a red card during his Lanus farewell match it looks like Celtic are holding back the official signing announcement until Friday- the day after Lanus play. 

Argentinian journalist Cesar Luis Merlo has been close to the story as Celtic’s interest developed, late this afternoon he tweeted. 

Alexander Bernabei has already had a medical check-up in Scotland. Celtic are preparing the contract for him to sign in the next few hours until June 2027.  Lanús sold 90% of its record. 

If all goes through Bernabei should be with the Celtic squad that flies out to Austria on Monday to step up their pre-season preparations and play in the first of two friendly matches against local opponents.

With the threat of suspension cleared the 21-year-old will be clear to make his competitive debut on July 31 when Celtic open their defence of the SPFL Premiership at home to Aberdeen.
