Carl Starfelt has sent an upbeat ‘see you next season’ message to his Instagram followers.
Since being stretchered off late in the first half of Sweden’s Nations League win over Slovenia on Thursday night there has been speculation over what Starfelt’s injury is and how long he will be out of action.
X-rays have been taken with differing reports mentioning back and hamstring injuries- not the sort of news that club managers want to hear during the close season.
A hamstring injury forced Starfelt to miss out on action through November but after the winter break he played in every minute of Celtic’s SPFL campaign as Ange Postecoglou’s side surged to the title.
That league winning squad was put together during the course of the season, getting a fully fit Starfelt and the rest of his team-mates through a full pre-season programme is the next target for Postecoglou as he gears up for his second season with Celtic back in the Champions League for the first time since 2017.
