A report from Argentina claims that Alexandro Bernabei could be on his way from Lanus within hours.

The defender has been heavily linked with Celtic with varying reports on the progress of a transfer.

Bernabei has missed Lanus’ last two fixtures with Argentinian publisher Engrandos hinting that he could have played his last match for the club.

However, there were still no concrete movements regarding arrivals by Garnet, who did have departures: Diego Valeri, who announced his departure a few days ago, and José Manuel López, who will shortly be announced as a new reinforcement for Palmeiras from Brazil.

In addition, Alexandro Bernabéi could join the list in the next few hours, if Celtic of Scotland makes an offer and is accepted in Cabrero and Guidi.

According to Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports News, Lanus are looking for a fee of £4m for their defender which seems on the high side for a player in just his second season of top team football.

Celtic have never had an Argentinian player at the club but with Ange Postecoglou’s knowledge of the game new markets are being investigated for recruitment.

Seeing how Liel Abada, Matt O’Riley and Giorgos Giakoumakis have developed under Postecoglou will be a big draw for Bernabei as well as the guarantee of Champions League football.
