The transfer window brings out the best and the worst in football news and speculation.

A throw away line in a foreign publication can be the first sign towards a transfer with dozens of links getting churned up and published.

One of the classics is a highly speculative story/suggestion in Scotland being picked up elsewhere then returning to Scotland as a foreign source reporting when it was likely some Intern scouring around for the most remote mention.

Calvin Ramsay’s move from Aberdeen to Liverpool is quite a story, a fee of £4.5m and the promise of more is very significant for a club that is lucky to touch £15m in terms of turnover.

The young right-back will do well to be included in Liverpool’s first team squad for pre-season training- joining their u-23 squad seems the most likely option before they assess the level that he can go out on loan at.

What can be said with complete certainty is that he won’t be competing with Tony Ralston and Josip Juranovic for the right-back slot at Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou has the tough task of choosing between two current internationalists for a first team place, amazingly The Mirror threw out the suggestion that Ralston and Juranovic might be stepping aside to allow Celtic to develop a project signing for Liverpool.

The Mirror reports:

The Reds made a firm offer for Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni but the France international chose to join Real Madrid in a £60m deal. However, there is no doubt Ramsay could prove to be an astute addition, with Klopp often calling on youngsters to play regularly in domestic cup competitions.

At this stage, it is unerstood the German manager is not considering sending him immediately back out on loan, even though Rangers, Celtic and a host of Championship clubs are reportedly interested. Liverpool see him developing into a player who can operate in a number of positions on the right side, in defence and midfield, and were attracted to his passing range as well as an ability to create chances.

It seems that The Mirror even struggles to spell understood.

Clicks seem to mean everything these days but surely there is still value in credibility?
