The SPFL have caved in to the Tribute Act over the cinch sponsorship deal.
After agreeing a five year sponsorship deal that would see each club wear the cinch logo on their shirt and provide trackside and backing board advertising the Ibrox club decided that they wouldn’t participate.
In typical fashion Neil Doncaster opted against enforcing the rules which would have resulted in fines and other sanctions for the Ibrox side.
The cinch deal was basically aimed at the two Glasgow clubs, getting shirt presence and trackside advertising would have been the driver for the deal, especially with four Glasgow derbies televised live by Sky Sports.
While Celtic and others complied with the deal it was ignored by Douglas Park, now a revised sponsorship deal has been agreed with the Ibrox club freed from obligations allowing them to put additional sponsors on their kit.
Neil Doncaster told the SPFL website:
Under the terms of the revised cinch contract, Rangers are no longer required to participate by providing the sponsorship inventory that they have so far not provided, whilst, crucially, the overall income to Scottish football is expected to remain materially unchanged over the original five-year term of the sponsorship. This revised package has now been approved by cinch Premiership Clubs.
It’s extremely good news that we have been able to work with our partners at cinch to develop an updated sponsorship package which delivers the same level of financial support to Scottish football, whilst providing additional SPFL media assets to cinch to compensate for loss of Rangers related rights. It is testament to the strength of our relationship with cinch, and the high value they place on it, that they have agreed to move forward with us on this basis.
This deal gives us further confidence that we will exceed our budget and deliver fees to clubs of more than £27.5m for Season 2021/22.
Doncaster also negotiated the Five Way Agreement of 2012 which gives the Ibrox club a separate set of rules to the other clubs in the SPFL.
So they get paid for not showing the sponsorship. I hope the other clubs start asking questions.
Over to you Celtic
Lol aye right sevco call all the shots here and they say who is getting money and how much.
The tramps shouldn’t get a penny of that sponsorship deal. Doncaster needs to resign, he’s weak and should be highly embarrassed. Its clear who’s running Scottish football.
What a joke. Five way agreement as well. Guilty as charged mr. Lawwell
THE CELTIC FANS SHOULD GROW A PAIR AND BOYCOTT THE STADIUM AND I’M TALKING ABOUT PARKHEAD.
Is in the deal that Sevco doesn’t get the money?
Because if it is. I have no problem for this special klub.
If they get sponsor money from Cinch. I hope the other clubs get the SFA and Sevco in court. That would be rediculous. But then again, it’s spineless Doncaster and co.
Don’t be so f***** stupid they got the cash alright probably before anyone else.
Did the Huns get any money for not advertising last season and are they going to get a cut from future sponsorship?
You better believe it wouldn’t surprise me to find out they got more than Celtic.
The huns have got some amount of dirt on these bas tards, no other explanation for how they behave without any fear of repercussions.
Time it was all out in the open, even if it means our clubs hands are dirty.
Clean slate required and therefor a level playing field once again.
Rangers need all the money they can get still paying back the HMRC for past misdemeanours regarding tax and overpaying players
Lovely jubbly now hurry up you mugs and get them season books purchased.
Guess who is in charge of the SPFL it ain’t Doncaster and Co and it certainly ain’t Celtic.
Once again booted to the back of the bus(the grey one at that for all our TRIGGER fans) to know our place.
As I said it is a rigged game keep purchasing sea on books and whatever merchandise you can because the Celtic board are laughing all the way to the bank and the sevco board and fans are pissing themselves laughing.
And we call sevco fans THICK.
KEEEEERRRRCCCCHHHHIIIINNNNGGGG.
Doncaster’s position is not tenable now.he should be Sacked.
Dirty rat coward if this was Celtic there would be hell to pay but what can you expect from the brothers mason of the SFA ???
Do Rangers receive any sponsorship money and prize money from the Cinch deal I would love Mr Doncaster to answer this question that fans of all the clubs who take part in the deal
This question must be answered by the people who made the rules
Every other club should refuse to display cinch logos, see what happens then with the corrupt rotten Sevco run SPFL.
Did they take any prize money off sevco for breaching the deal last season
