Daizen Maeda’s impressive form continued on Friday when he scored his first goal at full international level.Â
Starting 2022 with a transfer to Celtic the striker has packed a lot into the last five months for club and country.Â
Coming off the bench in the Kirren Cup tie against Ghana, Maeda scored a goal that will be very familiar to Celtic fans with a close range goal in the 83rd minute. The trick is anticipating the movement of team-mates and knowing where to be when the ball is delivered across the goalmouth.Â

On Tuesday Japan face Tunisia in the final of the Kirin Cup before Maeda can call time on his marathon season, switching quickly to Celtic after completing the J-League season for Yokohama Marinos.Â
Among many highlights was playing for Japan and Celtic on successive days as they took strides towards World Cup qualification and the SPFL Premiership title.Â
