Alexandro Bernabei missed his club match last night due to carrying out personal procedures in Europe during the week.

Google translate may have toiled a little but it would be odd for a player to be on another continent for a non-footballing matter.

On Friday night Football Scotland reported that Celtic were close to signing Bernabei, a 21-year-old left ack with Argentinian side Lanus.

Yesterday, ahead of the 1-1 draw at home to Defensa y Justiscia, the Union of Lanus website reported:

The team led by Jorge Almirón will not be able to count again on its historical scorer, José Sand, who is injured, nor on Alexandro Bernabei, who will return to the country this weekend, after having carried out personal procedures in Europe. Nor will he have his other scorer, José Manuel López, who in the next few hours will be announced as a new reinforcement for Palmeiras in Brazil.

Celtic are certainly looking for a left-back but Argentina is a brand new market for the hoops to be scouting in.

Greg Taylor had that position almost as his own in the second half of the season after Adam Montgomery, Boli Bolingoli and Liam Scales had stints earlier in the campaign.

With 12 months left on his Lanus contract Bernabei and his club have some big decisions to make during the summer transfer window, joining a club guaranteed to be playing in the Champions League will be a big part of Celtic’s draw.
