Kevin McQuillan will replace Kerry Keenan as the Head of Marketing and Multimedia at Celtic.

McQuillan has described it as a return to his first love having previously worked for the club between 2012 and 2016, when he moved on Keenan took on his job.

Currently working for DC Thomson he has a strong marketing background having also worked at the R & A as well as being involved in Tennent’s long term sponsorship of the Scottish Cup.

Sporting communication is a fast changing business, McQuillan will find Celtic a fairly different club to the one that he left six years ago with an increased quest for news and information fed by social media and increased fan media outlets.

Announcing his return to the club on LinkedIn, he stated:

Delighted and no less proud to share that I’ll be returning to the magnificent commercial team at Celtic Football Club in two weeks time.

I’m humbled to get the opportunity to lead the hugely talented Marketing & Multimedia team and can’t wait get started afresh with colleagues old and new at Celtic Park.

As I enter my final full week, my thanks to all at DC Thomson for their support over the last two and a half years and I wish everyone well as the company embarks on a brave new era.

For me, it’s back to my first love, football. Looking forward to big challenges and exciting times in the years ahead with the SPFL Premiership Champions.

It looks like McQuillan will be moving straight into the job at Celtic, although it is the close season he will be well aware that there is virtually no downtime at the club.

How much leeway he has to put his ideas into practise will be dependent to the remit from CEO Michael Nicholson but with his background it seems likely that McQuillan will take up the job with a range of fresh ideas and initiatives.
