To the surprise of no-one BBC Scotland’s gossip page is leading with ‘news’ that Southampton are the front-runners in the race to sign Joe Aribo.

That story comes from the Daily Record and is mainly based on the fact that there hasn’t been the slightest interest in the midfielder from Aston Villa, Nottongham Forest or Crystal Palace despite the Record’s round the clock hype about Aribo being transferred.

On June 25 BBC gossip loyally reported that Forest were leading the race, again picking up on wishful thinking about a massive transfer fee coming into Ibrox.

With a fee of at least £10m being thrown around about Aribo it looks likely that the former Charlton man will run down the last year of his contract and quit Ibrox as a free agent next summer.

Seven of the 10 gossip stories covered by the BBC are Ibrox related including pieces on starlets Josh McPake and Cameron Bell.

This was from last week in the Southampton fans website The Ugly Inside … so there may be something in it however … “Turning 26 in a couple of weeks his value has risen sharply in the last year or so and is now said to be around £9 million, although this would be the starting point for Rangers, Saints would be trying to knock down the price given he is now in the last year of his deal and will leave for nothing in less than 12 months.
So is this transfer a genuine rumour or just pure speculation”

Wont be for Dembele Dollars as they wont be looking to pay as much as 9 due to his contract situation.. still a flier but they have to put some good news for the sevco fans to try and raise a bit of cash as PAOK won´t accept bottle tops or panini stickers in swapsies for your fella Colak

Editor: A story generated from a Southampton website saying Aribo is ‘no bad’ gets picked up by Daily Record and the state broadcaster are all over it. Decent summary of Scottish media.

Later this week look out for the Crstal Palace, Fulham, Accrington Stanley ‘story’.

All you need to know about BBC Scotland sport is by the amount of employees it sent to Seville to cover the Europa League final. Reporters, commentators, producers, directors, editors camera operators, non camera operators, writers, digital staff, make up artists, clapperboard operators, riggers, there’s undoubtedly more but I’m running out of space! Considering the Beeb and the Rangers are alleged sworn enemies, and don’t talk to each other, the cost on the licence fee must have been astronomical.
