Barry Ferguson is tipping Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent to sign new Ibrox contracts. No doubt they’ll be reported as bumper deals.Â
Despite 10 transfer windows attempting to sell the Colombian not a single realistic bid has been made with numerous clubs keeping tabs, preparing an offer and getting to test ‘Rangers’ resolve.Â
Since his last contract renewal Morelos has watched John Lundstram and Kemar Roofe sign deals worth more than£40,000 a week with the former Leeds and Anderlecht star spending half of each season in the Treatment Room.Â
Sharing his thoughts with Daily Record readers Ferguson explains:Â
Two weeks ago I went out on a limb by suggesting Alfredo Morelos would sign a new deal to stay at Rangers. Far be it from me to say ‘I told you so’ but I must admit to being delighted the other day when Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirmed an agreement with the Colombian is now very much on the cards.Â
So let me go one step further today and predict Ryan Kent will also be putting pen to paper on a contract extension before the end of the transfer window. Don’t get me wrong. Until the market shuts down nothing is set in stone. If a huge bid was to come in for either one of these players then the situation could change at the stroke of a pen right up until the clock strikes midnight on deadline day.Â
Leeds United are constantly linked with Kent, like Morelos they always fail to put in a bid for the former Liverpool starlet.Â
With a minute to go transfer deadline day Leeds will bid £55 million for Clarke Kent.
In the absence of any serious interest in them,
both Kent and Morelos might just sign an extended contract.
Then the Ibrox PR guru and the SMSM will loudly proclaim;
“It’s just like signing two £20M/£30M/£40M players!” 🙂
Morelos is unfit and overweight hence no bids. Kent, for a star winger doesn’t have near enough goals or assists, hence no bids. New deals for both, increase in pay and increase overall wage bill. They never learn.
The Colombian wants out , hawked him for the last few months but no one’s interested , so let’s just make out that if he stays he’ll be the wonder signing of the transfer window
