Classic Ibrox deflection tactics over Nazi salutes

|

The slick Ibrox PR machine moved through the gears swiftly last night to disassociate the club with the fan caught making Nazi salutes during Tuesday’s friendly against West Ham United.

A number of video clips appeared on Twitter on Wednesday evening, by 10pm the day after the match Sky Sports News had the story without a trace on the club’s own website or Twitter account.

The 22.02 Sky Sports News story

Rangers have banned a spectator from attending games at Ibrox after they were ejected from the stadium for making Nazi salutes during their pre-season match against West Ham. Footage of the incident emerged on social media following the match, in which Rangers won 3-1.

An Ibrox spokesperson said: “We are aware of a video circulating online regarding an individual within the home section who was wearing a football top representing another club. We condemn the appalling actions of this individual who will no longer be welcome at our stadium.

“This individual was removed from the stadium by our stewards. Any further enquiries should be directed to Police Scotland.”

Police Scotland say they are aware of the incident.

Typically the comment used by Sky Sports News made reference to the fan being of another club while claiming that stewards removed the fan from the stadium. There was no sign of any stewards on the footage shared on Twitter.

Having apparently taken such decisive action with ‘one bad apple’ it took the club more than 24 hours to release the news that the individual has been banned by the club.

No explanation is given over how the fan managed to buy a ticket that just happened to be close to the visiting West Ham supporters.

Releasing the story to Sky Sports News at 10pm allowed it to be easily slotted into their 10.30pm updates with the issue quickly dealt with by moving on to the decisive action apparently taken by the club.

Meanwhile there is no news of identifying how broken glass appeared in Joe Hart’s goalmouth during the Glasgow derby on April 3.

It’s very easy for them to say that he has been banned or wearing another clubs shirt. What evidence exists that he has been banned? The so-called other clubs shirt was not evident in the clip on social media and what evidence is there that stewards ejected him? This looks to be the customary way such events are dealt with and covered up in Govan. From their past record why should anyone believe what they say?

This sounds like another case of lies covering up the dark secrets lurking within the bigot dome. They encourage their so-called fans and then dissociate themselves when called out.

However, one fan who supposedly challenged this chap has to be commended. I assume there are more fans like that who are afraid to get involved. What a bloody place to go to in support of your team! There is no self-awareness.
