Kemar Roofe is the next player being targeted for an Ibrox exit.

Running losses of more than £10m a year are coming to a halt with the supply of Director ‘loans’ spectacularly ending since Dave King was repaid £6m plus interest last year. The dispute with Sports Direct was settled earlier this year.

Roofe is believed to be getting paid more than £40,000 per week, with a contract running until May 2024 and another loyalty bonus to be paid next month a significant saving could be made by getting him off the payroll, even on a season long loan.

The Sun reports:

DERBY COUNTY are considering launching a shock loan bid for Rangers striker Kemar Roofe, according to a report.

The Rams have been busy in the transfer market this summer as they rebuild under new ownership after finally ending their crisis-laden administration spell, signing ELEVEN new players already.

The Sunday Mirror are reporting that the club, who will play in the third tier of English football in the season ahead, are ‘weighing up’ a loan move for Gers striker Roofe.

The 29-year old has proved a prolific goal scorer when fit at Ibrox, netting 34 goals since joining in August 2020. Despite regularly finding the net, Roofe’s Gers spell has been blighted by injuries.

Whether it is Derby or someone else word has clearly got out that the 29-year-old is available to leave Ibrox. Last season Roofe started just nine SPFL matches with a further 10 appearances off the bench.

With just over two weeks to go until the Champions League qualifiers he hasn’t taken part in any pre-season games, last season he served a four match UEFA suspension for booting Slavia Prague goalkeeper Ondrej Kolar in the face.
