Emilio Izaguirre has taken his first step into coaching by becoming Sports Director of Honduran club Olancho FC.
After two stints at Celtic the 36-year-old recently retired from playing with his ambitions set on moving into coaching.
Honduran football has been in turmoil in recent years after a golden period of qualifying for the World Cup Finals in 2010 and 2014.
Reynaldo Tilguath is in charge of Olancho and trying to put together a structure capable of developing and exporting players to the richer leagues of Europe and the United states.
“Emilio Izaguirre joined the project, he is a person who is a sports manager, graduated from UEFA. It is an advantage that we have”, Honduran site, 17blogs reports Tilguath saying.
Izaguirre made an instant impact when he arrived at Celtic in August 2010, fresh from the World Cup Finals in South Africa.
Despite speculation Celtic haven’t been back to Central America for further signings, hopefully with Izaguirre on the ground there might be a player or two heading towards Celtic and the bright lights of the Champions League.
