Ismaila Soro is expected to complete a season long loan to Arouca of Portugal over the weekend.
The midfielder has been left out of Celtic’s squad for the three match trip to Austria and is clearly surplus to requirements.
Signed by the Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon combination in January 2020 Soro failed to make an appearance before that campaign came to an end in mid March.
Given a first team chance at the same time as David Turnbull as Celtic toiled in December 2020 he briefly looked the part but fell back out of contention before Ange Postecoglou arrived as manager
Just after 1pm today Pedro Sepulveda tweeted:
Exclusive. Ismaila Soro will be @OficialFCArouca reinforcement. Loan of @CelticFC with option to buy at the end of the season. Officialization is imminent.
Journalist Sepulveda has 67,000 Twitter followers while following just eight account.
With Vasilis Barkas loaned out to Utrecht and Soro on his way to Arouca two of Postecoglou’s legacy issues appear to be getting dealt with. Boli Bolingoli, Albian Ajeti and possibly Chris Jullien are in similar situations but with seven weeks left of the window Celtic will be hoping to get further deals sorted out.
