Rabbi Matonda is the latest star on his way to Ibrox as Giovanni van Bronckhorst steps up his transfer activity.

At 12 noon on Saturday Joe Aribo had still to complete his transfer to Southampton but that hasn’t held back the Dutchman’s spending spree.

Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence were signed on Thursday and Friday with the Sun confident that Matonda is about to be deemed as a top transfer target.

RANGERS are closing in on a deal to sign Schalke winger Rabbi Matonda.

SunSport understands there’s now ‘an agreement in principle’ for the Ibrox side to secure the services of the 21-year-old Welsh international.

Matonda moved to Germany in 2019 in a deal worth £11million.

After coming through the ranks at Cardiff City and then Manchester City, the winger had loan spells with Stoke and Cercle Brugge.

A number of English clubs have been tracking him this summer, but it’s understood Rangers are hopeful of concluding a deal.

In his first season at Schalke the winger made 20 Bundesliga appearances, the following season he played three times before being loan.

Now into the final year of his contract it seems that Schalke are keen to move Matonda on with Ibrox his next destination.

Is this another poundland purchase a don’t see a figure being branded about what they will pay for the duffer.
Another nickel&dime purchase and no doubt world class to go with it.
