Despite the wishful thinking of the Scottish media Leeds United look highly unlikely to splash the cash on Ryan Kent.
From origins that are difficult to trace the Yorkshire club always appear to be at the front of the (non-existent) queue of clubs poised to sign the former Liverpool starlet.
Last summer Leeds spent £25m signing Dan James from Manchester United when Kent could have been bought from Ibrox and had his wages paid for four years for around half that figure.
Raphina is expected to leave Leeds for a fee of over £50m but rather than swoop for Kent they have invested £21m (or three and a half Aribo’s) on Luis Sinisterra from Feyenoord.
After a season on loan Kent is about to enter the final year of his contract, with little sign of genuine interest he’ll have to stick around for another season before moving on next summer as a free agent.
Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Jack and Filip Helander are also out of contract next summer with no sign of any new contracts being agreed.
