The interest we have in our players is not very high- Van Bronckhorst’s big transfer confession

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has admitted that there is virtually no interest in his so-called Ibrox stars.

Last week Southampton paid £6m to take a punt on Joe Aribo but other than hype from the Scottish media there has barely been a mention of clubs looking to Ibrox for fresh faces.

Southampton took three days to get the Aribo deal completed. Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and others had time to top the £6m bid but decided against moving for the former Charlton starlet.

Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Filip Helander and Ryan Jack are in the final year of their contracts but with clubs back in training and playing friendlies it looks like that quartet will have to stick it out at Ibrox.

Last week the Daily Mail reported van Bronckhorst saying:

We are in talks, especially with players coming into the last year of their contracts. Of course, after the season we had last year, attention will come to your players. So far, the interest we have in our players is not very high, apart from Joe, of course but, in football, you never know.

You just have to wait to see what happens in the future. Anything can change at any moment and we are working hard with Ross Wilson (Rangers sporting director) as well to make sure we are ready and getting the players in that we want.

It looks like Wilson returned to his former club (Southampton) to shift Aribo but interest in Kent and Morelos looks to be almost non-existent.

Transfer guru Wilson will have to dig deep into his contact book to shift players on otherwise there will be no additions to the recently implemented Imaginative Transfer Policy.

The only thing that’s “imaginative” about their transfer policy is the ludicrous transfer fee valuations that they attach to mediocre players, who are going into the last year of their contracts. I saw one report that Galatasaray are allegedly preparing a £17.8m swoop for Kent FFS!!! Maybe it was a typo and the decimal point was accidentally shifted one place to the right, but the Dembele dollar quotes flying around for him, Bassey, Morelos et al are pure fantasy of the most hilarious variety.
