Video- East Kilbride release ‘highlights’ of their 6-1 win over Celtic XI

East Kilbride have released video ‘highlights’ of their 6-1 victory over a Celtic XI. 

The match took place at Barrowfield yesterday with the Lowland League side looking sharper and more comfortable from the goal highlights. 

Despite their Lowland League status East Kilbride are a well-funded outfit with a very professional outlook, beginning pre-season training two weeks earlier than Celtic. 

Even making those allowances it is disappointing the ease with which they scored against their senior opponents with cross balls into the penalty area a particular problem. 

It is believed that it was mainly the Celtic B team that played the first half with Owen Moffat recognisable, after the break, with the score 0-3 a replacement u-18 side was used with Joey Dawson appearing to score Celtic’s 88th minute goal. 

Pre-season scores are never to be taken too seriously but it is difficult to imagine that many of those involved on Saturday will be pushing for a place in Ange Postecoglou’s first team plans in the coming months. 

Celtic B play East Kilbride on August 5 in the Lowland League.
