Most of the great freeloaders in Scottish football turned up at the City Chambers in Glasgow last night for an evening of self-congratulations funded by Council Tax payers across the city.

With Glasgow City Council as generous hosts they decided to play along with the great deception that left 276 companies, mostly from in and around the city boundary, out of pocket as Rangers refused to offer an adequate CVA.

A decade on and florists, taxi firms, newsagents and other small businesses have had to settle for twice a year reports from BDO on the funds that they have raised from some assets and claims.

Regardless of that minor issue Glasgow City Council pretended that nothing had happened in 2012 and invited those involved with both clubs along for a night on the Council tab.

Former SFA Presidents Mike Mulraney (Alloa) and Rod Petrie (Hibs) rarely miss free booze and a buffet.

Current chief Stewart Robertson was there for the buffet and booze, David Holmes who brought Graeme Souness to the club in 1986 was there alongside various others that tapped their toes along to the tunes of hate.

Campbell Ogilvie masterminded more than a decade of players being paid through a scam of disguised remuneration that denied HMRC millions of pounds while the future President of the SFA cheated every club by registering shadow contracts for a decade worth of players. From the same era Martin Bain also put in an appearance.

Loyal Ogilvie was carrying out the instructions of Dave Murray, strangely the man that was chairman and effectively ran the club from 1988 until 2011 when he accepted a coin from Craig Whyte failed to put in an appearance.
