Fashion Sakala wants a meeting with Giovanni van Bronckhorst to see if he has a future at Ibrox.

The Zambian moved to Ibrox last summer as a free agent and provided a decent return with 12 goals in his debut season despite rarely being a regular starter.

Over the summer van Bronckhorst has signed Rabbi Matondo, Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence to strengthen his forward positions with the new signings appearing to be ahead of Sakala in the queue for a first team place.

More tellingly the former Oostende striker was sent on as a substitute in the final of the Europa League then suffered the humiliation of being replaced by Aaron Ramsey as the match headed towards a penalty shoot-out.

Sakala hasn’t had any game time in the two competitive matches since then, speaking to The Sun he admitted:

The club had a meeting with my agent and the coach said he wants me to be part of the club. I’m expecting a meeting with him soon to hear his views. I’m looking forward to that

We’re starting a competition and I want to know where I stand because I don’t know at the moment

Auxerre have been credited with an interest in taking Sakala on loan but with a contract running until 2025 any move will be on the club’s terms.

At Livingston yesterday van Bronckhorst used four substitutes, including on loan Bayern Munich starlet Malik Tillman with Sakala left on the sidelines.
