Don Robertson was trending on Twitter today after he bottled out of sending James Sands off at Ibrox.

Fifteen minutes into the game the American defender rugby tackled Jordy Hiwula-Mayifuila to the ground as the striker prepared to run in on goal.

It was a clear foul and red card, Sands had been booked earlier in a similar situation with Connor Goldson covering but this time Robertson decided to do nothing, bizarrely shaking his head and raising his arms as if to say ‘you know I can’t send him off’.

At that point the game was goal-less, the home side went on to win 4-0.

Last week the SFA downgraded a red card for John Lundstram and awarded two retrospective red cards to Ross County players. The Compliance Officer is expected to be out of contact this week.

This will be looked at because, as people have pointed out, it isn’t a second yellow but a straight red card.
You can’t review a yellow but you can review a red.
Doesn’t help Ross County though although I’m sure it will even itself out for them on Wednesday.

Can you imagine the media outcry if a celtic player had been the culprit.

  • Bob (original) says:

Scottish football is (allegedly) inherently corrupt.

It became painfully obvious to everyone in 2012.

The continued, ‘inept’ refereeing standards are just one example of that (alleged) corruption.

Will Chairman Bankier express ‘concern’ again? Or say nothing.

    Will CEO Nicholson stay quiet?

Of course they will stay quiet.

Wee Fergus would have called this out.

  • TicToc says:

If the Compliance (with the laws of the game) man doesn’t call this out and retrospectively red card Sands then it’s even more proof of cheating by Robertson alone. Never mind the rest of the LRA. It was right in FRONT of Robertson, not for the sake of a new club, they’ve NEVER been a club, just a new company follow-followed by the same scummy fans.
Changeing name from Sevco Scotland Limited to TRFCL doesn’t bury the fact that in its very 1st game, Sevco Scotland Limited played Brechin on 29th July 2012. Never let ANY of that SCUM forget it! (The name change happened 2 days later.)
I hope this is clear as when I involve myself with anything regarding that vile shower from Ibrox I kinda lose the plot. I’ve suffered the cheating all my life but I’ll NEVER accept it.
I just thank my lucky stars I was born a Tim.
And our Board should bring that disgraceful decision of Robertson’s to the Compliance man’s attention. Us supporters DESERVE nothing less.

  • Wullie Tracey says:

Why not call it what it actually is?

It is a corrupt act where the referee deliberately chose not to apply the rules of the game and thus favoured one team to the detriment of another, giving a clear advantage to the team he favoured.

Not a mistake in any shape or form but a clear choice from the referee to influence the outcome of the game.

    In short, CORRUPTION!
