A week ago Giovanni van Bronckhorst was overseeing an Imaginative Signing Policy, today he is battling to justify himself to furious bears.

The feel good vibes from the back of a trip to Seville were wiped away by 90 minutes in Belgium that reminded Ibrox fans of the frailties of their squad and the doubts that they hold over the manager that chucked away a six point lead over Celtic in the SPFL.

Selling two of last season’s stars apparently brought £30m into the club but there wasn’t much to show for that on the pitch last night as Antonio Colak and Rabbi Matondo fired blanks at a club that was in the second tier of Belgian football just over a year ago.

Defenders Ben Davies and Ridman Yilvaz came off the bench to make their debuts and managed to look worse than the players that they had replaced.

Steven Gerrard imposed a very rigid playing system at Ibrox which the stalwarts are unwilling to ditch.

James Tavernier has already used the club programme to explain how he can’t cope with pressure, Connor Goldson slammed fans using social media to comment on John Souttar’s disastrous debut at Livingston on Saturday.

Not far from the surface Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Filip Helander and Ryan Jack will be able to sign pre-contract deals in January.

Last night in Belgium the Dad’s Army trio of Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield and Steve Davis sat it out on the bench as their replacements flopped.

A sceptical and critical crowd will turn up at Ibrox on Saturday, if Derek McInnes gets Kilmarnock to park the bus it could be a long painful afternoon for the home manager.

With the amount of bleating and greeting over that penalty call last night

    One thing is for certain

They are an absolute stick on for a penalty this weekend

Now reality is starting to show just what they are an average bunch.

If Gio doesn’t overturn the 2-0 deficit,
then he will see just how grateful the bears are for getting to a Euro final last season!

OK, so it’s 2 poor games so far for the Ibrox lot.

The last thing the support should do is lose the head…
which it just might do, if they don’t get 3 points at the weekend!

    🙂
