Giovanni van Bronckhorst is ready to turn to Alfredo Morelos to rescue his Champions League dream.
The chunky Colombian hasn’t played since March 20 but after watching Antonio Colak in action against Union SG it is obvious that the Croatian isn’t about to hit the goal trail.
A year ago against Malmo Steven Gerrard celebrated Morelos levelling the aggregate scoreline then watched in despair as Colak scored twice to deny the Tribute Act a £40m windfall.
The pressure is on van Bronckhorst to overcome the Belgian minnows on Tuesday with a desperate pleas to Morelos looking on the cards.
The Sun reports:
Asked if he could turn to Morelos to help salvage their Champions League hopes, van Bronckhorst revealed: “Yeah, I think that is realistic.
“He has been training with us for quite some time and he is getting better and sharper every day. We also have him in the UEFA list for this round so hopefully he will continue and he will be there next week.”
