BBC Scotland are keeping their viewers and readers in the dark about the reasons for Alfredo Morelos’ absence from the Champions League Play Off against PSV Eindhoven.

Just before noon, from inside Murray Park, Sky Sports News broke the news and it wasn’t because the Colombian ace ‘wasn’t ready’ as the state broadcaster put it.

Morelos has been dropped and left out of the squad because of his lack of fitness and attitude. As if that wasn’t bad enough his manager sounded out senior team-mates who backed Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s decision.

That was the news, they were the issues. Sky Sports broadcast from Murray Park throughout the day, breaking the news and following it up with Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd sharing their opinions.

Meanwhile with BBC Scotland everything was toned down. No mention of fitness issues, problems of attitude or being shunned by team mates. The state broadcaster are back in the Ibrox media bubble and terrified that a word out of place will result in access being denied to the ever loyal Kenny, Tom, Alasdair, Thommo and Jane.

Covering today’s media conference, six hours after Sky Sports News had broke the reasons for Morelos being dropped the ever obedient BBC Scotland reported:

Alfredo Morelos was omitted from Rangers’ squad against PSV Eindhoven because “he’s not ready to play”, says manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The Colombia forward, 26, has not travelled to the Netherlands for Wednesday’s Champions League play-off decider, with the tie level at 2-2. He was sent off in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Hibernian.

“He has to show me he wants to play for Rangers,” said Van Bronckhorst. “I know he wants to play but to play for Rangers you need to have a certain level mentally, physically and at the moment, he’s not ready to play.

“As a person, it was a hard decision. As a manager, it was an easy one because we are here to represent our club and to get into the Champions League tomorrow evening and that in my eyes was best, to take the squad we brought tonight.

“We will do everything tomorrow on the pitch to be successful for this team, for this club so for me that’s why I took this 23 players. We are very focused. The players are training well.”

Tomorrow’s match will be watched on BT Sport, others can tune in on the wireless for the thoughts of Neil McCann and Richard Foster. Kenny Macintyre will be the anchor.
