Albian Ajeti is reported to be a transfer target of Spanish second division side Racing Santander according to Football Scotland.

Two years ago Celtic snubbed Ivan Toney to sign the Swiss striker with a fee of £4.5m going to West Ham and a four year contract for the player.

Last season Ajeti scored in successive matches against Ross County and Real Betis in September to earn a recall to the Swiss international squad but that form quickly fizzled out as Ange Postecoglou looked elsewhere for strikers.

Apart from an outing in the opening pre-season friendly against Wiener Viktoria little has been seen of Ajeti but it appears that there is some interest in the near forgotten striker.

Discussing Ajeti, Football Scotland claims:

The £4.5m Swiss flop has struggled to force his way into Postecoglou’s plans, with Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis first picks. Signed by Neil Lennon from West Ham in 2020, Ajeti has scored just nine goals in 48 appearances for the club.

One of the club’s highest earners, the Scottish champions are keen to offload the 25-year-old either permanently or on loan before Thursday’s deadline. Reports in Spain today suggested newly-promoted second division side Racing Santander are ready to table an offer. It’s believed Ajeti has attracted interest from other clubs too, although Celtic have yet to receive a concrete bid.

Ajeti’s Celtic wages, on the back of a season with West Ham, will be the biggest stumbling block for any loan deal to go through.

Santander are highly unlikely to be able to match the striker’s wages which could result in Celtic paying the player to be elsewhere.

That situation is far from ideal but with a week left in the transfer window and two years to run on his contract it might be the best offer on the table.

There’s nothing that annoys me more than the infantile digs at Neil Lennon.
Some people need a reality check! After brendan rodgers crapped all over Celtic, the players, the staff, the board and the fans, Neil Lennon saved our great club at what was the most delicate time of the season! He lifted two trophies in tbe space of less than three months, completing a treble which rodgers left in tatters! Lennon also won another treble the following season! All three without much help or support!
Neil Lennon worked for us under daily threats on his life, yet still made us nine in a row champions for the second time!
Stop writing your garbage about Lennon just because he didn’t win the ten! It wasn’t all down to him!
Sure, he didn’t get over that last hurdle, but he sure as hell put us in the position to try! Without him we would not have won numbers 8 or 9!
So grow up and remember that man was quite literally putting his LIFE on the line for our great club!
    Hail Hail Neil Lennon!

Lennon was a sideways and backward passing passenger that Martin O’Neil paid way over the odds for to his old club at Leicester. He was a worse manager and achieved nothing that any other manager in the league couldn’t have, given Celtic’s resources and perhaps most would have had the decency to resign when they knew the job was too big for them in season 10.
His name should be stricken from the records a la Stalin. Something was not right in that season and maybe the truth will come out someday.
