David Dickinson will referee his first ever Celtic match on Sunday when the hoops take on Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

The whistler with the famous name has been climbing the ladder in recent times, famously stepping in to replace the injured Andrew Dallas as St Mirren pulled off a shock League Cup win over Steven Gerrard’s side in the 20/21 League Cup.

So far this season Dickinson has refereed three League Cup ties plus the Hearts v Ross County match on the first day of the Premiership campaign.

John Beaton will be the fourth official on Sunday with the familiar face of former Police Officer Graeme Stewart one of the assistants.

While Celtic have taken full points from their first two matches Kilmarnock have just one point to show on their return to the top flight.

On their last visit to Kilmarnock, in February 2021, Celtic won 4-0 with Albian Ajeti a scorer on Jonjoe Kenny’s debut for the hoops.
