Steven McLean will referee Sunday’s match at Tannadice between Dundee United and Celtic.

The Glasgow based referee is best know for failing send off Josh Meekings and award Celtic a penalty in the 2015 Scottish Cup Semi Final against Dundee United.

McLean has only refereed three matches so far this season with his only Premiership match coming at Tannadice two weeks ago when he was in charge of the defeat from Livingston.

It seems strange that both of McLean’s Premiership appointments this season are at Tannadice. Last season his only Celtic match was at home to Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup.

After his weekend controversies Willie Collum will referee the Championship match between Queens Park and Cove Rangers, with just six Premiership matches no referee is involved in the top flight every week.

Collum will be in charge for Celtic’s League Cup tie away to Ross County on August 31 which will be live on Premier Sports, Sky Sports will be showing the match at Dundee United.

Absolute corruption. McLean as stated was at Tannadice 2 weeks ago and last Saturday he was 4th official……again at Tannadice and now he is back there…..3rd time in 3 weeks.
The SFA need to get their act together.
Rangers supporters refereeing Rangers games and a referee from Renfrewshire refereeing at Paisley on Saturday.
AJOKE. THAT’S WHAT THE SFA ARE!!!

Yes unforgettable decision not to award penalty and send of Josh Meekings which almost certainly cost Ronnie Deila a treble you couldn’t make it up really

  • Douglas Smith says:

No wonder there are NO Scottish referees at the World Cup in November. No representatives at all.
Does that not sum up the state of Scottish football.
    TOTAL CORRUPTION!!!
