There is always a strange air to being outside a football stadium, hearing the buzz and build up to a match or the cheer of a goal that you haven’t witnessed.

Yesterday 60,000 fans celebrated last season’s title win inside Celtic Park with the atmosphere spilling out towards one neighbourhood that had little reason to smile and raise a glass to Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

Less than a mile from Celtic Park, on route to Glasgow city centre, Bridgeton is a place that hoops supporters know to avoid.

The city centre offers two main routes towards Celtic Park with the vast majority of fans opting for the fan-friendly Gallowgate rather than the London Road route via Bridgeton Cross.

There was an eery quiet over Bridgeton yesterday, with the bulk of the city green and white in celebration some of the party atmosphere was shared with neighbours who seemd to have the shutters down.
