Certainly on a par with Jota- Kenny Miller names three Celtic wingers inferior to Ryan Kent

Kenny Miller has claimed that Ryan Kent is on a par with Jota!

The former Liverpool reserve has been in the spotlight recently with his contribution questioned on the back of three heavy defeats.

In contrast Jota was voted Man of the Match by UEFA in Celtic’s draw against Shakhtar Donetsk with two outstanding strikes included in his four so far for the season.

Jota is two years younger than Kent, head to head last season he helped his side to win two trophies- the same amount that Kent has picked up since moving to Ibrox, initially on loan, in the summer of 2018.

Wingers are known for their inconsistency, they don’t dribble past every opponents but Jota is a team player, linking with others with a strong appreciation of what he has to do on the park and appears to be good for one goal every three or four matches.

Despite the mountain of evidence, discussing Kent, Miller tells Daily Record readers:

It’s a frustration because when it comes to talent and technique, he’s better than Abada, James Forrest or Daizen Maeda at Celtic. And he’s certainly on a par with Jota, in terms of ability.

But those players look hungrier to score goals. It’s a non-negotiable that they attack the box. Rangers and Kent aren’t doing that right now. But that doesn’t mean you let a £7m signing walk out the door.

When he’s on his game, Kent can be frightening. He’s direct, has pace, can chop on to either foot and fool his markers. He’s electrifying when he’s in full flow. You know it’s there. It’s up to him now to produce – and getting his future sorted will help him do it.

The weight of evidence suggests that Kent plays one good game in 10 and will contribute four or five goals a season. That wouldn’t get him near a place in the Celtic side and explains the lack of transfer interest throughout the summer window.

Kris Boyd won’t encourage anyone to discuss Jota as the best player in Scotland, it seems that his former Ibrox team-mate has similar blinkers on when it comes to the goal scoring winger from Portugal.

Miller stepped down as caretaker manager of Falkirk at the end of last season, as a pundit he can be heard on Radio Clyde, Sky Sports, Radio Scotland and BT Sport most days of the week.

After Celtic won 9-0 at Dundee United Miller suggested that Kyogo Furuhashi was getting lucky with offside runs.

Miller is a clown who clearly has a wee man-crush on Kent as he keeps pushing this “better technique” crap, and his claim of “talent” is clearly bollocks because if he was so talented then Sevco would have won more than 2 trophies in his time there, and they would have had him oot the door for as much as their grabbing hands could gets for him.

Miller’s “blue-tinted specs” are becoming more and more like Kris Boyd’s “fully-opaque blue specs”…

  • John says:

I think Leil Abada has scored more goals in his time at Celtic that Kent has in his time at Rangers which is 5 times longer. Miller and Boyd humiliate the people that employ them. Rangers TV is less biased. An embarrassment.

  • Allaboutceltic says:

You’re being generous with 4-5 goals a season. As for Miller. Failed manager at Livingston, a team in Oz, Falkirk, and now joins the Scottish punditry circuit where it’s bursting at the seems of failed managers and mediocre or/and players who cheated to win trophies. Anyone listening to SSB yesterday would know what supporters of *the Ranjurs think about Kent. Let them keep bigging him and the rest of their failures up. It’ll let the deluded keep thinking that they have £30m superstars at their disposal and the board don’t need to invest further in the next transfer window.

    HAIL HAIL
    KEEP THE FAITH??

What absolute prick of a man, bitter little DOB? jealousy pouring out of every pore
Always play to the masses, and because of that will always get a job in Scotland where it matters more if your a prod and a mason rather than how much talent you’ve got good to know we get him bealing

  • Stevie says:

Must remember the daily Rancid and the other sycophantic rags are not aimed at the celtic support their aimed at der-hun to keep up their circulation figures

  • Joe says:

As a rangers fan you can understand why Kenny feels the need to talk up his players. But Miller is no fool. He knows that kent isn’t in the same league as ANY of the wide men Celtic have, ESPECIALLY Jota and Abada!
Each of the Celtic wide men are match winners. Kent is more of a penalty winner and out of his depth in the company of the Celtic men.
That’s factual. You lose respect for people like Miller when they make such stupid statements out of club loyalty. He sounds like kris boyd when he says things like this and ends up embarrassing himself.
You expect nonsense from boyd, but not from miller!

    He has lost his integrity.

  • Andrew Lamb says:

Miller should have a wee look at what their fans are saying about Kent, they would get shot of him plus a half dozen more. Most people who have played football at any level have had someone like Kent in their team. Yes he looks dangerous and then it fizzles out with wrong decision making also he can’t finish. You can’t coach these things into players that’s why he will never improve and Rangers will be the highlight of his career. some of their fans know more about fitba than Kanna Miller. Yes when he played for us I said id rather have a Kanna Miller than watch this heedless chicken.

  • Jack says:

What have they done to you at old co erased your memory that great night you celebrated big time scoring your first league goal for celtic against old co no matter how much make thees stupid anti Celtic_fc_1888 statements you can never erase the memory from old co now new co supporter’s memories so be truthful and stop making your self biased after all do you still have the memory of pulling on the famous hoops I and whole of scotyish football it’s written in the history books can’t erase that still got the medals to show your children

  • Frank Reid says:

not consistent enough drifts out of games Can you ask Kenny to send me some of the stuff he is on

  • Scud Missile says:

This is what happens when you start putting the white powder stuff up your nose you make CRAZY statements like this.

  • John says:

This is proof that there is an organised effort from Ibrokes to denigrate the Celtic. Anyone in Scotland better than Jota is a joke

  • John mcghee says:

Put it this way well done to Liverpool for getting 7 million for a guy who plays 1 good game in 7 maybe 8 games as for kent he can only play 1 way and thats running at defenders but he always makes a right cunt of it especially when he goes down like a wee lassie looking for a foul our as usual a ranjurs favourite penalty kick from the masonic officials dirty cheats of scotland.

    • BriBhoy says:

Liverpool must love it when they come looking for players from them. That’s £7m for Kent – a player Kenny Miller likes because he’s a mirror image of his own “heidless chicken – runs about a lot, but has zero end product” playing style. Now they’ve handed them £4m for Davies – a panic buy player they bought for £200k during an injury crisis, who never got a game for them, was rarely even near their matchday squad and now can’t even get in an injury hit Huns back line. Sands has been getting a game over him FFS!!!!

We were probably all a wee bit worried Shved might come back to haunt us this week agains Shakhtar. I somehow doubt Klopp will have similar concerns about these two coming back to bite him in their CL double header.

  • Dora says:

It appears to me that kent is more interested in developing his dodgy tattoos and like morelos, he seems to cut his own hair in the dark…funny hunny look!
Jota & Abada’s value has skyrocketed whereas kent’s value has nosedived, even his own admit the little trickster has-‘no end product’!!

  • Scud Missile says:

BREAKING NEWS auld shug is alive and well and back with a bang and getting battered right into our fans and club, what a surprise eh?.
They must have pumped some embalming fluid into him to kick start him again to bring him back to life after that near death experience for him watching his sevco team get skelped 11 nil 3 games on the trot.
I told you all through the week he would come back for a special guest star appearance when sevco are back winning again, and here he is.
That article he wrote today is full of hatred and bile for our support, and he had the cheek to call our support out on this.
Not a word in his article about the state sevco are in at this time or about how the fans and pundits have turned on their, just an all attack on our club this auld guy is a joke with hatred running through him towards Celtic and our support because he got booted out Parkhead years ago for his lies.

  • Tony B says:

Despite being a moron, Miller is right about Kent. sevco must keep him AT ALL COSTS.

I mean 2 goals a season is qwality man, pyoor qwality!

  • John A says:

Give your head a shake kenny

  • Joe Brannan says:

FFS what planet is this clown on

  • Tam says:

Kenny Millar says Kent up there with Jota he obviously is not basing that nonsense on anything to do with football.. Goals= Jota …Assists= Jota. Is Kenny basing this on “potential” or the team he supports mmmm It can’t be “potential” that’s what you give a 17 or 18 year old NOT A 25 year old. So that only leaves 1 the team he supports…As an ex professional footballer doing a pundits job people expect him to say what he sees NOT what he wants it to be . Now we know Kenny Millar can’t won’t do that

  • Tom says:

I wud have Ryan Kent no way near the Celtic team. Every winger we have would be in front of him. I know some rangers fans who want him gone as his end product is not good enough.
