Two years after being told to walk away from Ibrox Andy Halliday has slammed the recruitment at his old club.

At the end of January fans were drooling over Aaron Ramsey driving the club to the Premiership title but two days into February they were left looking as idiotic as Kris Boyd as Celtic hammered Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side 3-0. Ramsey watched from the stand while lost boy Amad Diallo got the hook at half time.

The follow up to that defeat has cut Ibrox fans to the core. Two of the summer signings started against Celtic on Saturday, at the final whistle they had been replaced by the less than inspiring Scotty Arfield and Alfredo Morelos, in the fifth and sixth seasons of watching Celtic sweep up the trophies.

Five minutes into Saturday’s rout Celtic fielded the side that won 3-0 in February, this time they went one better thanks to a gift from Jon McLaughlin to David Turnbull.

All of the fears and concerns of Ibrox fans came to the fore at the weekend.

Listening in to Halliday summing up the feelings of wounded bears, The Sun reports the Hearts utility man telling Clyde SSB:

I do look at Rangers’ team and they’re still lacking in the same problematic positions that we’ve been saying for the last two years. Even going into the summer, the goalkeeper and right wing positions.

I’ve lost count of how many transfer windows Rangers have been trying to replace that right wing position. A creative goalscoring midfielder, I still don’t think they’ve got. A second centre half.

Ajax, Aberdeen and Napoli are waiting to pile it on over the next eight days.

Summer signings Sicknote Souttar, Ben Davies, Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo and Ridvan Yilmaz all watched Saturday’s demolition from the sidelines. Following the action at Celtic Park Halliday was in the Hearts side that lost 1-0 at Livingston..

On the upside surely fat Freddie should go into the Guinness book of records most transfer windows with no interest.

Halliday is a Hearts player but his main priority appears to be sevco.

Tells you all you need to know about Scottish football.
