A year after leaving Celtic for Mechelen, Marian Shved is in line to play against the hoops in less than a fortnight.

This morning Shakhar Donetsk announced the signing of the winger ahead of their Champions League tie next week away to RB Leipzig.

On September 14 Celtic take on Shakhtar on Champions League business with Shved ready to make the Champions League bow that he hoped for when he moved to Glasgow in January 2019.

That was technically Brendan Rodgers‘ last transfer deal but the Irishman distanced himself from the move before joining Leicester City more than a month later.

Shved made three substitute appearances for Celtic, scoring on his debut away to Nomme Kalju but that was either side of loans with Karpaty Lviv and Mechelen before last summer’s permanent deal with the Belgian side.

Shakhtar have lost most of their foreign signings since the Russian invasion but with their Champions League pay day they can attract the best players in Ukraine.
