Giorgos Giakoumakis celebrated his first Champions League goal then gave his approval to the latest song from the Green Brigade.

In the 35th minute of the match against Shakhtar Donetsk a cross from Sead Haksabanovic was met by Liel Abada, his shot was deflected into the path of ‘Big George’ who pounced to send the ball into the corner of the net.

If there was a competition for Player of the Year for 2022 it would be hard to look beyond the Greek striker who has delivered at every level after a far from sparkling first few months at Celtic.

Following the goal the Celtic fans were in full flow as they put Giakoumakis name to the 80s hit from Nena of 99 Red Balloons.

The former VVV Venlo striker is in a strong scoring run with goals against St Johnstone, Hearts and Shakhtar to his name as well as putting in domineering performances that trouble every defence.

On Sunday Celtic travel to the plastic pitch of Livingston where the home side will be primed to put in a very physical performance.
