Celtic’s 2022 Annual Report has revealed that Radio Clyde is an official media partner.
The Clydebank based station is at the heart of football coverage in the west of Scotland with their week-night Super Scoreboard show a fixture for many fans as issues are often ferociously debated.
Business wise Radio Clyde tend to come under the Bauer Media group but at Celtic home matches there is regular pitchside advertising for Radio Clyde and Super Scoreboard.
In the section covering Commercial Partners in the 2022 Annual Report (page 6) Celtic list:
Our commercial partnerships continue to be an important revenue stream for the business with our front of shirt sponsorship with Dafabet remaining the most lucrative shirt sponsorship deal in Scottish football.
The Club has a range of other commercial arrangements and is proud to have a variety of partners including long standing relationships with Magners, Intelligent Car Leasing and Radio Clyde
Media deals with football clubs in Scotland can be very sensitive among supporters. Having a partnership with a major radio station can compromise both parties and raise suspicions among others about how objective coverage is.
Magners are visible on the back of the Celtic shirt, on their own website, with a variety of links to Celtic, Intelligent Car Leasing describe:
Intelligent Car Leasing has been the Official Vehicle Leasing Partner of Celtic FC since 2014 – supplying vehicles to staff, as well as sponsoring match day events.
Radio Clyde don’t appear to have any special media access to Celtic, appearing at media conferences alongside other broadcasters with no additional access to players or management.
Why the f*ck are we taking anything to do with this shit show while they employ people who day in, day out put or club down. They need our name tagged to them more than we need to be tagged to them. Fuck them!
