Veteran reporter Lindsay Herron had his facts all wrong today as he questioned Ange Postecoglou on Celtic’s Champions League record.

The Sports Editor of the Scottish Daily Express, part of the Reach Group including the Daily Record, listened to a variety of questions about tomorrow’s match against RB Leipzig before he got his big chance.

With the best part of 40 years experience of covering Scottish football he’ll have watched more matches than most reporters at today’s media conference but a certain match in Belgium in September 2017 seems to have escaped his memory as he tried to dredge up tales of Celtic’s failure in the Champions League.

Goals from Leigh Griffiths, Patrick Roberts and Scott Sinclair gave Celtic a 3-0 win against Anderlecht just five years ago, not quite the doom and gloom nine year drought that the Express reporter had in mind.

Lindsay Herron Scottish Daily Express: It is actually nine years since Celtic last won a Champions League group match, I don’t know if you are aware of that or not. What sort of achievement would that be for you if you were to end that disappointing run?

Ange Postecoglou: Yeah, look, I haven’t been responsible for all nine years, you’ve got to cut me a bit of slack. It just shows how hard it is. I don’t see it as failure, there’s been some fantastic teams at this football club that haven’t been able to win at this level. We’re not alone in that, there are plenty of fantastic football clubs and great teams, like I said it is the hardest level of club football.

It is 12 years since a Scottish club other than Celtic won a Champions League tie, in September 2010 Bursaspor lost 1-0 at Ibrox with Steven Naismith scoring for Walter Smith’s side.

Ah mad BENNY from the klan on FF has asked where sevco would finish in the EPL if they were in it,one posted a comment saying they would attract the best players going to that league because of their history.
They have only been floating about the leagues for the last 10 years not much history there.
Some are posting a top 6 finish,a don’t know what they are smoking and drinking on that site, but it’s certainly not legal.
