After a period of turbelence Celtic racked up their first clean sheet since early September when they saw off Motherwell to reach the semi-final of the League Cup.

Ben Siegrist came in for his second appearance of the season, made one significant save at the start of the second half to confirm that Ange Postecoglou has reliable back-up for Joe Hart.

Among those acknowledging the clean sheet were Giorgos Giakoumakis and Chris Jullien.

There were a few sticky moments when Siegrist had the ball at his feet but that is hardly a surprise with the keeper getting just his second competitive outing since his summer switch.

Recently there were a few questions and doubts about Hart’s form but last week against RB Leipzig he pulled off significant saves to keep Celtic in the match, the goals lost to St Johnstone and Hibs weren’t down to the keeper.

After his year long injury, Chris Jullien would have been better served by getting his sleeves up and fighting for his place in the team instead of going in a huff.
There is no doubt in my mind that he could easily have made himself first choice partner with CCV!
He is a better player than Starfelt and much faster too.
His childish reaction to not walking straight back in to the team was disappointing to say the least.
You only need to look at how Jenz is approaching things!
I always felt Jullien was the classiest central defender in Scotland but he let himself down by blaming everyone expect himself.

    Siegrist deserves his chance.
