Nick Walsh has been drafted in to referee Aberdeen’s visit to Ibrox today.

When the appointments were announced on the SFA website on Tuesday Steven McLean was to referee the match with Walsh as VAR, a reversal of last week’s arrangements at Tynecastle.

As the teams came out at Ibrox today McLean was posted missing, Alan Newlands was still on Fourth Official duty with VAR Walsh promoted to match referee.

On the SFA website Willie Collum is on VAR duty, tomorrow at noon he’ll be at Livingston picking up a match fee for the visit of Celtic- with Alan Muir on VAR, unless there are any further changes.

Six minutes into the match Turkish starlet Ridvan Yilmaz pulled his hamstring with Borna Barisic sent on to replace the former Besiktas ace.

On Monday Walsh will be back to training Murray Park starlets in his day job at Boclair Academy, Bearsden.

Maybe the pressure is just too much for McLean. No, sympathy! Or maybe he ran awa’ with a PE Teacher from Bearsden!? Curiouser and curiouser! What happens if they Can’t cope? Will Scottish football wind up!? It might just be too much for them!? it isn’t as if there is somebody up there who can step in and take control! It could just be beyond the ability of the Scottish Football Association to handle VAR!
