Kenny Miller was a broken man as he shared some grief counselling with Emma Dodds at Ibrox last night.

With no sign of anyone crawling out of the Ibrox dressing room to speak to BT Sport it was left to the touchline team to share the feelings of devastated bears.

Six months ago Dodds and Miller were high-fiving their way to Seville but stepping up to the elite UEFA competition has been a sobering experience.

Just losing by 2-0, both set-pieces, at Anfield last week was seen as some sort of moral victory.

Beating St Mirren provided the gullible with some hope but with less than 5,000 fans in the home section at the final whistle Miller had to admit to some home truths.

Picking up on his BT Sport appearance, the Daily Record reports Miller saying:

It will be soul destroying for them. It’s another heavy defeat at this level against a Liverpool team who were excellent in the second half. I still think looking at a lot of the goals that Giovanni won’t be happy with them.

More importantly moving forward, the injury to Connor Goldson and Ryan Jack will pave costly, especially the Goldson one. He is the rock back there. He’s barely missed a minute never mind a game over his time at Rangers.

He’ll be a big big loss. You’ve just got to keep your fingers crossed that it’s not too long out for Connor as he’s the heartbeat of that Rangers defence. He holds things together. He’s such an influential player for the people about him.

Murray Park starlet Leon King can earn priceless experience during Goldson’s absence.
