The Ange Postecoglou speculation template

The Ange Postecoglou EPL template has switched to Wolves today following the sacking of Bruno Lage.

Over the last month Leicester City and Brighton have been linked with the Celtic boss, Brendan Rodgers remains vulnerable at Leicester while Brighton have moved on with the appointment of Robert de Zerbi.

The same arguments/suggestions for the above two jobs will be banded about alongside the reasons why Postecoglou is likely to stay put.

Just over a year into the job at Celtic the manager seems to be the dominant character at the club with others falling in line with his ideas rather than trying to win him round to their ways. In the modern game that situation is rare.

When the environment is right at Celtic only the offer from a top six EPL club should be considered a threat. Operating in the Champions League, pushing to go further will carry more appeal than ensuring EPL survival for another season of the same.

Postecoglou had almost a blank canvas to work with at Celtic, every aspect of the club had been run down in the season before he took over, not helped by the 106 day wait between Neil Lennon’s exit and the appointment of the Australian from the J-League.

With the season underway Wolves will be looking for a fire fighter, it is a job more suited to a Sam Allardyce type than the Celtic boss who in the past has had his greatest success in season two. Season Two for many of these clubs could be in The Championship which is the scenario that prompts changes of manager.

A strange slip up by the Daily Record, jumper or number?

The Wolves ‘links’ are likely to fall away similar to talk about Brighton.

Tomorrow night Leicester City host Nottingham Forest with the vultures and predators hovering over the bottom two teams in the EPL. During the summer Postecoglou caught up with Forest CEO Koulis Dourekas during a holiday in Greece which adds something new to the jigsaw.

As long as Celtic are moving in the direction that matches the ambition of their manager there should be no real threat of a move but the speculation is bound to continue with nervy owners starting to press the panic button in the EPL.
