The big fear haunting every Ibrox fan this morning

Some thought that it couldn’t get any worse than a 7-1 home defeat in the Champions League.

Shipping in five goals in 25 minutes including the fastest ever Champions League hat-trick was a tough pill to swallow for a group of fans with a bizarre superiority complex. Two trophies in 10 years really should have knocked that on the head.

This morning there is a fear among some bears that the defeat from Liverpool two weeks ago could be surpassed in Italy tonight. As ever there has to be a consolation with the departure of Giovanni van Bronckhorst comforting some bears but that just prompts the question of who next?

Napoli have already put down a marker with a 3-0 win at Ibrox. That came after their 4-1 home win over Liverpool.

Their stroll at Ibrox was followed by 6-1 and 4-2 victories over Ajax with the Italian side on an 11 match winning run. There were no ugly wins over Motherwell and Dundee or laboured draw at home to a team managed by David Martindale.

Worse than the results is the accusation that many of van Bronckhorst’s players have chucked it, given up on their manager.

Last week a 3-0 defeat at Fulham brought Steven Gerrard’s reign at Aston Villa to an end, if Napoli surpass that score tonight his successor at Ibrox could very well be heading in the same direction with just the timing of van Bronckhorst’s exit to be finalised.

We had to go out last night otherwise we would be playing Thursday night football then a Sunday, giving sevco the advantage of playing the Saturday a day ahead ourselves and should they be winning those games the pressure would be back on us.
No pressure now so let’s get this league wrapped up PRONTO.
